WILLIE ANDREWS
Willie Lee “W.L.” Andrews, 62, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Funeral services were Sunday at the New Zion Multi-Purpose Center with Rev. Willie E. Smith officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Andrews was born Oct. 8, 1949 in Yazoo City to Shumpert and Allean Andrews. He was a U.S. Navy veteran with 25 years of service and the owner of Andrews Lawn Service. He was a member of New Zion M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Shumpert Andrews; and a grandson, Kimble Andrew Funchess.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Florence Moore Andrews; a son, Loranzo Andra Andrews; daughter, Julia Ann Andrews-Funchess (Kimble); four brothers, William Andrews (Millie), Robert Andrews (Dorothy), Donald Andrews and McDouglas Andrews (Tharadine); five sisters, Lennie Mosley (Robert), Letitia Scruggs, Carolyn Clayton (Joseph), Marilyn Clark and Brenda Kirksey; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Eric Andrews, Kurt Mosely, Bryant Houston, Craig Andrews, Lloyd Moore Jr., Stephen Flowers and Kirk Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Gregory Moore, Herbert Bolden, Melvin Jones, Calvin Sojourner, George Banks, A.J. White, Brian Miller and Clifton Jones.

IVA BANKSTON
Iva P. Bankston, 85, died Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Funeral services were Friday at Midway Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Steven Howell officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bankston was born Dec. 23, 1926 in Jones County to Fred and Rosa Lee Hollifield Watkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Clint Hood; and her stepmother, Mary Lou Watkins.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Bankston of Yazoo City; daughter, Rosemary Hood of Yazoo City; son, Freddie Bankston of Richland; brother, Vernell Watkins of Laurel; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Leon Boutwell, George Jefcoat, Gene Ward, Dewey Hood, Joey Jefcoat and Marlin Stubblefield.

LARRY ECHOLS
Larry Joe Echols, 65, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Sunday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Cosby officiating.
Mr. Echols was born Sept. 5, 1946 in Muskogee, Okla. to Maxey and Tallie Armstrong Echols. He retired as police chief from the Yazoo City Police Department after 25 years of service and was the minister at the Church of Christ in Yazoo City.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Echols.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Echols of Benton; daughters, Kim Wise of Bentonville, Ark. and Tina May of Brandon; sons, Stanley Joe Echols of Muskogee, Okla., Sean Echols of Benton, Trent Lott of Winona and Bryan Lott of Duck Hill; a brother, Jerry Lee Echols of Muskogee, Okla.; three sisters, Nancy Deloach of Springdale, Ark., Barbara Belknap of Colleyville, Texas and Judy Stanley of Joplin, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

JOSEPHINE MAPLE
Josephine Maple, 81, died June 25, 2012.
Funeral services were Sunday at New Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church with Rev. Benard Luckett officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Maple was born Sept. 17, 1939 to Johnny and Verlee Smith Maple of Holly Bluff. She was a member of New Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Jones and Johnny Mae Langston; a son, Johnny Mack Maple Brown; and a daughter, Shirley Lee Maple Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Lee Dearing Jr. (Alberta) of Yazoo City and Charles Mitchell of Meridian; daughters, Vivian Dearing Barnes and Beverly Dearing Dortch (John), both of Yazoo City; two sisters, Mariah Holmes (James) of Memphis, Tenn. and Ernestine Ward (LeAndrew) of Los Angeles; four brothers, Willie Maple (Francis) of Southfield, Mich., Clifton Maple (Evonne) of Detroit, James Maple Jr. of Yazoo City and Michael Langston (Juliet) of Dallas, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Jamais Barnes, Maurice Daily, Timothy Johnson, Anderson Daily, Jordan Johnson and Carl Maple.
Honorary pallbearers were Willie Dearing Jr., Clifton Maple, James Maple III, Charles Mitchell, Michael Langston Sr., James Maple Jr., Willie Maple and Leslie Nelson.
