MARY BELL
Mary S. Bell, 95, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Bolivar County Extended Medical Clinic in Cleveland.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at the Stricklin King Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Brown and Buster Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell was born Jan. 23, 1915 in Alabama to William and Nannie Pratt Sanford. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, James Bell (Patty) of Ellijay, Ga., Jack Bell (Jane) of Meridian, Dan Bell (Lynda) of Cleveland, Ross Bell (Shirley) of Monroe, La. and Larry Bell of Pleasanton, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike Bell of Reform, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Bell, Chuck Bell, Michael Harlow, David Bell, Danny Bell, Brian Bell and Chad Bell.

FRANCES JOHNSTON
Frances C. “Mammy” Johnston, 77, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Oasis Health & Rehab Center.
Funeral services were Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father P.J. Curley officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnston was born Oct. 29, 1932 in Yazoo County to Walter and Sophia Rusche Cole. She graduated from Benton High School and was very involved with 4-H. She worked for Woolworth's in her early years and then dedicated her life to her three daughters as a stay at home mom. She was a Girl Scout Leader for about 15 years. After her daughters got older in school, she worked for Yazoo Community Action Meals on Wheels Program where she faithfully delivered lunches to the elderly for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Johnston and two sisters, Rita Cole Haven and Catherine Cole Turner.
Survivors include three daughters, Fran Twiner (Max) of Yazoo City, Karen Johnston  (Lee Kirk Jr.) of New Orleans and Deborah Pacheco (David) of Oledo, Texas; a brother, Nathan Cole (Shirley) of Canton; 10 grandchildren Scotty White (Tasha) of Yazoo City, Curtis White (Claire) of Benton, Brandon White (Rachel) of Yazoo City, Benjamin Ricks, of Albuquerque, N.M., Nathan Ricks-Babb of Aledo, Texas, Michelle Twiner Russell of  Hattiesburg, Brandy Renfroe (Anthony) of Raymond, Candace Ricks of Albuquerque, N.M. and Nicole Ricks-Babb of Aledo, Texas; and 14 great-grandchildren, Dustin White, Chase White, Ainsley White, Haley Purvis, and Gaston Purvis of  Yazoo City, Peyton White, Ava White of Benton,  Dallas Renfroe, and Savannah Renfroe of  Raymond, Avery Ricks of Albuquerque, N.M.  and Cayden Russell of  Hattiesburg.
Serving as pallbearers were Brandon White, Scotty White, Wade Twiner, Grunt Tyer, Curtis White, Lester Twiner, Benjamin Ricks and Nathan Ricks Babb.

DANNY LUCKETT Jr.
Dan Luckett Jr., 74, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are pending with Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Luckett was born April 4, 1936 in Yazoo County to Dan Luckett Sr. and Josephine Brickell Luckett. He was a retired electrician and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Danielle Luckett of California; a sister, JoAnn Stricklin of Yazoo City; and several nieces and nephews.
MARY RODGERS
Mary Ella Rodgers, 86, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Light House Pentecostal Church with Rev. Doug Humphreys officiating. Stricklin-King Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rodgers was born Dec. 28, 1923 in Vicksburg to Jacob C. Dose Sr. and Frances Mozelltintol Dose. She was a waitress and a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Rodgers; a son, James Otto Rodgers and two daughters, Virginia Taylor and Lona Mae Herron.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Lee Rodgers of Bentonia; three daughters, Mozell Barnes of Prescott, Ariz., Grace Irene Gallagher of Eden and Christine Cousines of Redwood; a sister, Vivian Evans of Georgia; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

CAROLYN THOMPSON
Carolyn Johnson Thompson, a Yazoo City native, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at home in Memphis, Tenn, after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Willie Washington officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Gregory Funeral Home.
Miss Thompson was an employee with the Internal Revenue Service in Memphis until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a son, Kenny Curtis Polk.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Ray Johnson of Fredricksburg, Va.; granddaughter, Miesha Swink ; three brothers, Tony Hodges (Bonnie) of Boise, Idaho, John Hodges of Los Angeles, Otis Hodges of Detroit; and a host of other relatives and friends.
