Seniors honored at Delta Council

Special to The Herald

More than 140 high school seniors, who were chosen by their high school administrators, were honored by Lt.
Governor Tate Reeves and Dr. Cass Pennington, former Chairman of the Board of Institutions of Higher
Learning and Superintendent of schools in the Indianola School District at the Delta
Council Annual Meeting on the Delta State University campus on May 11.

Local students honored included Desiree Haralson of Yazoo County High School, Jasmine Coleman of Yazoo City High School, John Alan Yerger of Manchester Academy and Trebor Gainwell of Yazoo County High School.
Public, private, and parochial
schools throughout the 18 Delta and part-Delta counties selected two honor graduates based on their leadership skills, civic involvement, and promise
for the future.
The honor graduates were presented with a certificate of recognition signed by the Lt. Governor and the President of Delta Council acknowledging their achievements not only in the classroom, but also as promising future leaders of the Delta.
At the event, Lt. Governor Reeves extended the certificates to each individual young Delta leader and shared in a photo opportunity.
