The Yazoo City Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Friday to accept a proposal from the Yazoo County Board of Supervisors regarding E-911 and the rubbish pit, thereby ending a long-standing dispute between the two boards.
According to the terms presented in a June 5 letter from the supervisors to city officials, the county will continue to pay the city the $4,500 monthly subsidy called for under the local interlocal agreement. The city will pay $15,000 monthly to the county as its share of E-911 dispatching costs.
“Regarding E-911, the county is agreeable to the City continuing to participate jointly in that endeavor in exchange for the City paying a $15,000 monthly subsidy to the County,” stated the supervisors' letter. “Should the City not be willing to pay a monthly subsidy in that amount, please accept this as formal notice by the County that it will not renew the current E-911 Interlocal Agreement following its September 30, 2012 expiration.” -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
