Money, money everywhere and not a cent to spend

Over $60,000 in oil and gas revenue is flowing into the county school district each month, and school officials can’t spend a dime of it.
Faced with the prospect of raising taxes by 1.31 mills as state funding falls below levels, Yazoo County Superintendent Dr. Jack Nicholson said it’s time to change a state law that prohibits the district from using oil and gas revenue from 16th section lands.
