The lobby of the school was filled with parents eagerly waiting to enter the auditorium. Conversations drifted in the air about how long the students had been practicing for the piano recital.
There seemed to be wider smiles and more excitement than what normally comes from most school productions.
The children were just as happy, rushing to their classrooms to leave their book bags. Running through the halls, a few waved at their parents on their way to the recital.
Everyone had a reason to smile that spring morning. Many, if not all, of the children heading to the recital were told they may never hear or speak. A piano recital is reason to celebrate.
That is the magic that happens within the walls of the Magnolia Speech School. The private, non-profit school enables children with communication disorders to reach their full potential by providing them with listening, speaking and literacy skills.
