Partially obscured by tall grass and a fallen tree, and sitting between two boarded up and abandned homes, this house burned over two years ago and still hasn’t been cleaned up. The skeleton of a house that burned two years ago serves as a constant reminder to its neighborhood about the lengthy process that comes with unkempt properties in Yazoo City.
Neighbors have expressed concerns over a row of houses on Sixth Street, located between Grand Avenue and Calhoun Avenue.
Calvin Thomas said one the houses burned down about two years ago. With its charred remains, the grass is also overgrown.
“Rodents are a major problem,” Thomas said. “They’re always coming from those overgrown lots.”
