JIMMY LEE WILLIAMSON
Jimmy Lee Williamson, 69, died Wednesday May 16, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven.
Funeral services are today at 11:30 a.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Williamson was born Nov. 16, 1942 in Indianola to Jack and Edith V. Foster Williamson. He was a retired Yazoo City catfish farmer.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Strickland; a sister, Girty Belle Williams; and two brothers, James Otis and Jearl Williamson.
Survivors include his soulmate and lifetime love of 50 years, Alice Williamson; his son, Kevin Williamson of Walls; daughter, Tammy Sartin of Union; two sisters, Catherine Donald and Mary Rusche, both of Yazoo City; seven grandchildren, Alisha Chenault, Russell Comans, Curtis Strickland, Kristopher Comans, Blake Williamson, Bryan Williamson and Rayanna Williamson; and seven great grandchildren, Austen, Angel and Madison Chenault, Hayden and Andrew Comans and Ashlynn and Raylin Strickland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Blake Williamson, Bryan Williamson, Russell Comans, Kristopher Comans, Curtis Strickland, Bryan Chenault, Marcus Rusche and Stuart Rusche.
Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Comans, Charlie Strickland and Mickey Westbrook.

 
Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.  
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
