Pamela Shanks sat still at her new sewing machine.
Working on a piece of fabric and unsure of what to do next, she found herself reaching for the telephone.
She knew her grandmother would know exactly what to do.
But then she remembered, she would never make that phone call. With a grandmother who had recently passed away after a tough battle with cancer, it wasn’t possible to reach out to her just one more time.
“If I could just call Big Mama,” she said, with a smile. “She would have told me what to do.”
Her name was Sadie Hood, but she was better known as Big Mama. She loved to work in her garden and cut her grass. She was a great cook, and she loved her family.
