The Benton Garden Club met on April 14, 2012 at the Benton Methodist Fellowship Hall.
Gigi Mathews, club president, called the meeting to order and conducted a brief business session. The Nominating Committee presented their recommendations for officers for the upcoming year and all nominees were approved by unanimous vote.
Officers for the 2012-13 year will be:  president, Patsy Foster; vice president, Nancy Thomas; Maudine Trammell, secretary; Beja Everett, treasurer; and Sylvia McGraw photographer/reporter.
Hostesses were Woo Woo Ruschewski and Judy Sanford.
A delicious catfish-salad plate was served complemented by a delicious dessert. The tables were decorated with a variety of small terracotta pots of mixed flowers and at the conclusion of the meeting were awarded to each of the members as gifts from the hostesses.
K. K. Hill was the guest speaker, and presented a program on “Getting Garden Beds Ready,” incorporating useful tips about common products that can be used to supplement plants to enhance their growth performance. Mr. Hill shared that he had a keen interest in gardening since he was eight years old and much of his information has been gleaned from personal experience, and as usual his presentation was entertaining as well as informative.
