Pictured, from left, are hostess Dianne Collins, Diane Dixon and hostess Louise Dixon. The Lintonia Garden Club met Wednesday, March 28, in the Public Service Commission conference room.
Club president, Elouise Upchurch, called the meeting to order. Plans were made to conduct a flower arranging class for seventh graders at Manchester Academy on April 3.
Dr. Upchurch also mentioned several upcoming events in our area of interest to gardeners, including the Garden Clubs of Mississippi State Convention on April 19. She then introduced our guest speaker, Diane Dixon, who is a former member of the Mississippi Craftsmen Guild.
Ms. Dixon told of her experiences as a basket weaving apprentice to three Choctaw sisters in Philadelphia. She brought a beautiful selection of different baskets that she has collected over the years. Ms. Dixon also identified and determined the value of baskets that members brought to the meeting.
After the program, club members enjoyed refreshments provided by this month’s hostesses, Dianne Collins and Louise Dixon.
Members exchanged a variety of plants to conclude the meeting.
