Responders test mock power outage

YAZOO CITY AND COUNTY first responders practiced during a “tabletop exercise” that presented an emergency scenario. According to state personnel, the city and county performed well. The exercise was deemed beneficial.YAZOO CITY AND COUNTY first responders practiced during a “tabletop exercise” that presented an emergency scenario. According to state personnel, the city and county performed well. The exercise was deemed beneficial.There were 53 people present for the tabletop exercises with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
The exercise involved a mock power outage during summer days that crippled the city and a small part of the county. Responders had to deal with lack of power at traffic lights and people with special needs.  
During the exercise emergency personnel were asked questions how they would deal with a specific problem. Kings Daughters Hospital and the Yazoo County coroner were some of the agencies represented tasked with specific problems.
City and county government officials, MS 811, Med-Stat, Yazoo Valley Electric, Entergy and Yazoo City Public Service also participated in the exercise.
