PAUL NELSON Sr.
Paul E. Nelson, 76, died March 29, 2012 at home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Richard Jennings officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Nelson was born June 29, 1936 to Cordell Nelson and Frances Marie Milner. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Nelson; and two brothers, James Nelson and David Nelson.
Survivors include a son, PaulĀ  M. Nelson of Franklin, Tenn.; two daughters, Terri J. Pierce of Yazoo City and Annie C. Rasco of Yazoo City; a brother, Charles O. Nelson of Yazoo City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

SHERRY REYNOLDS

Sherry Reynolds, 61, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at home.
Funeral services were Thursday at Benton Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Rob Hill officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reynolds was born July 27, 1950 in Yazoo County to Allen and Loraine Jenkins Burrell. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie Reynolds Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Charles L. Reynolds Jr. of Jackson, and Daniel Anthony Reynolds and Samuel Christian Reynolds, both of Robinsonville; a daughter, Sally Rebecca Reynolds of Yazoo City; two sisters, Billie Jones of Madison and Linda Starnes of Orange Beach, Ala.; and two brothers, Ben Burrell of Blythville, Ala. and Lonnie Burrell of Alvin, Texas.

 
Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.  
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
