Cartlidge outlines plans to improve Yazoo City schools

By JASON PATTERSON
Editor & Publisher

When Dr. Arthur Cartlidge served as superintendent of Yazoo City Schools in the 90s they could compete academically with districts around the state.
That’s not the case anymore, but Cartlidge believes the district can be restored. Cartlidge, who is currently serving as interim superintendent, described the problems facing the district and his plan for fixing them to the Yazoo Rotary Club Wednesday.
“Where we are today will not be where we are tomorrow,” Cartlidge said. “This school system exists solely for the education of our children. Right now, we’re not doing that very well.”
