Spring afternoons often provide citizens the opportunity to take long, leisurely strolls throughout the streets of Yazoo City.
This past Sunday, however, a group of Yazooans took to the streets for a different kind of walk; a march for justice.
In an event coordinated by Yazoo City High School senior Stephen Diew, around 150 people, including city leaders, concerned citizens and students, gathered to participate in a march and rally to raise awareness and show support to the family of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager who was shot and killed earlier this year in a case that has garnered national attention.
Martin, was killed as he walked home from a convenience store by neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman. Zimmerman claims the shooting was in self defense, citing Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law.
