ANTHONY BROWN
Anthony Terrell Brown, 32, died Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Funeral services were Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Church with Rev. Anthony Brown officiating. Burial followed at Robertson Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 14, 1978 in Hinds County to Chet Matthews and Clementine Brown. He was employed by W.S. Red Hancock.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Tubbs-Brown; three sons, Ron’drikous, Anthony Jr., and A’marion, all of Yazoo City; five daughters, Antaniya, Daisher, Ashley, Starr and Angel Brown of Jackson; mother, Clementine Brown; father, Chet Matthews, two brothers, Kim Brown and Corey Brown of Yazoo City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Tubbs, Lamont Johnson, Mario Posey, Larry Beasly, Jermaine Jones and Edward Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were Kim Brown, Corey Brown, Andrew Wyatt, Dustin Wadford, Marquell Rance and James Rance.

DORIS DORMAN
Doris Jean Dorman, 78, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services were Sunday at the Stricklin King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Lynch officiating. Burial followed at Vaiden City Cemetery.
Mrs. Dorman was born May 28, 1932 in Isola to Drewery and Maudie Jackson Taylor. She was a retired cosmetologist and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar Dorman of Yazoo City; two sons, Randy Dorman of Yazoo City and Darrell Wood of Jersey City, N.J.; granddaughter, Laura Leigh Dorman of Vicksburg ; and a sister, Ruby Foster of Isola.
Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Stricklin, Harry Simmons, Dan Ables, Rick McGowan, John Overby and Steve Vandevere.


PHYLLIS ELDRIDGE

Phyllis Ann “Billie Ann” Eldridge, 68, died Friday June 25, 2010 at Winona Manor.
Funeral services were Sunday at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael with Rev. Gary Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.
Miss Eldridge was born March 17, 1942 in Yazoo County to George and Maybelle Guthrie Eldridge. She was a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alton J. Eldridge Sr. and George Eldridge.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Kilmichael Baptist Church Youth Fund or to the Kilmichael Group Home.

EMMETT JONES

Emmett P. Jones Jr., 86, of Germantown, Tenn. died Sunday, June 27, 2010.
Visitation is Thursday from 9-10 a.m. at High Point Funeral Chapel, 3788 Summer Avenue. Funeral services are Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill-Irene Road.
Mr. Jones was born in Memphis and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII and of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, having served in the Korean War.
He graduated from Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and was the executive vice-president and comptroller of National Trust Life Insurance Company.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Johnnie Channel Murphy.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Virginia Cherry Jones; three children, Emmett Paul Jones III (Sue), of Alpharetta, Ga., Ginger Beanblossom (Mark), of Memphis, and Frank Jones, of New York City, NY; grandson, Mark Beanblossom, Jr.; sister, Pauline Jones Ladshaw, of Tupelo; and a host of family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

MARY RODGERS
Mary Ella Rodgers, 76, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Light House Pentecostal Church with Rev. Doug Humphreys officiating. Stricklin-King Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rodgers was born Dec. 28, 1923 in Vicksburg to Jacob C. Dose Sr. and Frances Mozelltintol Dose. She was a waitress and a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Rodgers; a son, Otto Wayne Rodgers and two daughters, Virginia Taylor and Lona Mae Herron.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Lee Rodgers of Bentonia; three daughters, Mozell Barnes of Prescott, Ariz., Grace Irene Gallagher of Eden and Christine Cousins of Redwood; a sister, Vivian Evans of Georgia; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

RUBY WHISENTON

Ruby E. Whisenton, 57, died Thursday, June 17, 2010.
Funeral services were Thursday at Bethel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whisenton was born July 1, 1952 to Elmer and Doris Whisenton. She attended St. Francis High School until it closed and graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1970. She then graduated from Alcorn State University with honors.
She retired after teaching in the Yazoo City Municipal School District for 30 years, where where she taught at Annie Ellis Elementary and Webster Elementary.
Survivors include her mother, Doris Triplett; a brother, Dexter Triplett Sr. (Donna) of Copperas Cove, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were James Patrick Woolfolk, Howard Fox Sr., Howard Fox Jr., Devie Freeman, Isaiah Collins, Joe Blackmon, Larry Gordon, Claude Collum and Dwayne Jones.
