Jones says city picked wrong quote on radios

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

Ward 3 Alderman Clifton Jones questioned the city’s decision to accept a price quote for the purchase of radios this week.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted “the lowest and best” quote from Communications Specialists during a special called meeting earlier this month.
However, Jones expressed concern over the procedure during the regular open meeting Monday afternoon.
The board has been working with Communication Specialists and Jackson Communications for the purchase of a radio system for its street department. With no functioning radio communication system, the department has been working with cell phones to communicate.
The board wants to purchase an up-to-date radio system to install in all the street department trucks.
