Yazoo County’s Bernice McGinnis has been named the top emergency manager in the state.
That designation comes as no surprise to local officials who have watched McGinnis handle the enormous challenges of the local recovery efforts following the April 24 tornado in Yazoo County.
State officials also recognized that service, selecting her as the state’s emergency manager of the year.
Out of 82 counties, McGinnis stands as a leading example of dedication in her ability to lead, serve and assist in emergencies and other disasters.
