The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors awarded the contract to build a new bridge on Jones Road to NL Carson Construction of Carthage Friday.
NL Carson had the low bid on the state aid project at $572,533.16. The company is currently working in Yazoo County on Ridge Road.
NL Carson’s bid came in at over $24,000 cheaper than the next lowest bid, but all bids were above the estimated $509,329 for the project. The low bid was 12.4 percent above estimate. Rising fuel prices were likely a factor in the cost.
