Yazoo County Tax Assessor Beverly Ladner reminds homeowners that March 30 is the deadline to file homestead exemption for 2012.
If you purchased your home and were living in it prior to Jan. 1, 2012 you will need to file homestead. New homeowners are required to bring their Social Security number, if married the spouse’s Social Security number, the purchase price of the home without finance charges and current tag numbers from all vehicles.
Ladner said they must have proof if residents are over 65 or 100 percent disabled. If you are currently filing homestead and had a change in 2011, you will need to re-file for 2012.
