City updating rules for transient vendors

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

In an effort to curtail open violations and increase revenue, the ordinance involving transient vendors within Yazoo City will be updated.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Monday to amend the city’s ordinance to follow the state’s regulation of such vendors.
Ward 3 Alderman Clifton Jones said the city is losing money by not enforcing the rules regarding transient vendors.
“Our ordinances are weak and outdated,” Jones said. “The ones we have are not being enforced. We need to upgrade to comply with the state’s requirement.”
Jones said there has been an increased number of transient vendors within Yazoo City.
