“Thank you for my life.”
That was the first line Baynon Jones wrote on the sheet of paper as he remembered the Thursday afternoon when he almost died.
It was a simple thank-you letter for the quick action of those around him when he was found unconscious in his living room.
But it was his great-grandson Trey Winstead who brought him back with CPR during those hectic 10 minutes.
Earlier, Jones was taking advantage of the weather that afternoon. There were a few projects in the yard that needed his attention. His wife, Nita, was inside their house. Trey, his 13-year-old great grandson, was playing inside his room.
Some mischievous youngsters had vandalized his mailbox, and Jones was determined to get it looking back to normal.
