ROSETTA CURENTON
Rosetta Curenton, 41, of Yazoo City, died Feb. 19, 2012 after a lengthy battle with sickle cell.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 25 at King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Benjamin Hall officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Rose was born on Oct. 22, 1970 in Hempstead, N.Y. to Catherine Curenton and Roosevelt Newton. She moved to Yazoo City at a young age. She was a 1988 graduate of Yazoo City High School.
She accepted Christ at  Antioch M.B. Church and later become a member of King Solomon M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother; brother, Russell White; grandparents, Roosevelt and Mildred Newton; and nephew, Christopher Knight.
Survivors incude her father; three children, Antonio, Alisha and Adrienne; three grandchildren, Armani’, Ah’Merion and D’Layshia; numerous siblings; and a host of family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Mario Singleton and Timothy Curenton.
Pallbearers were Roosevelt Newton III, Oth Thomas, Sha-Ron Newton, Sherard Newton and Sherman Young.

OUIDA DUFF
Ouida S. Duff, 97, died February 27, 2012 at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Lexington with Bro. Lynn Nations officiating.   Burial followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Mrs. Duff was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress.
Survivors are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

MOZELLA HAWKINS
Mozella Hawkins, 74, of Yazoo City, died Feb. 20, 2012.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 25 at Scott Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Donald L. Peters officiating. Burial followed at Garden Memorial Park in Jackson.
Ms. Hawkins was born on Jan. 27, 1938 in Holly Bluff to Nathaniel Hawkins Sr. and Helena Hawkins. She was a member of Campbellsville M.B. Church in Holly Bluff. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Velma Edwards, Bessie McNeil, Johnnie Ruth Jackson and Rosie Lee Pilgrim; and brother, Nathaniel Hawkins Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Debra Brown (Michael) and Juanita Saoudi  (Khalid) of Yazoo City; sons, Robert Hawkins (Cora), Curtis Hawkins, Tyrone Hawkins, all of Yazoo City, Willie Hawkins of New Orleans, Earl Hawkins of Austin, Texas and Larry Hawkins of Duncan; nine grandchildren; two step granddaughters; four step great grandchildren; sisters, Hessie Price of Saginaw, Mich., Ollie Peters (Donald) of Waveland, Shirley Williams and Wanda Reed of Jackson and Shirley Langston of Louise; brother, Billy Reed of Jackson; and a host of family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Hawkins, Tyrone Hawkins, Larry Hawkins, Ezekiel Pilgrim, Jimmy Morlan, Khalid Saoudi.
Pallbearers were Willie Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Earl Hawkins, John Sullivan, Michael Brown Sr., Michael Brown Jr., Valone Brown and Freddie Pilgrim.

JOYCE HUGHES
Joyce Woods Hughes, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Scotland Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cresswell, Rev. Danny Cresswell and Dr. Earl Reyer officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hughes was born Dec. 13, 1936 in Attala County to Joe and Effie McCrory Woods. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hughes.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Hughes (Cristy) of Florence and Jeffrey Hughes of Richland; three sisters, Ann Cresswell of Bentonia, Janice Adams of Bentonia and Beverly Whitehead of Florence; a brother, Clyde Seawright of Bentonia; four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were W.O. Mayes, Steve Seawright, Joe Woods, Roger Cresswell, Robert Woods Jr., Mike Hughes and Dennis Reyer.

CONNIE MILLER
Connie Mae Miller, 52, of Yazoo City, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cypress Garden in Yazoo City under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller was born on March 9, 1959 in Yazoo City to Mr. and Mrs. Laura Miller-Kyles and Charles Kyles. She graduated from McKenzie High School in Detroit. She was a former CNA.
Survivors include a husband, John Bankes; two daughters, Marquita Miller and Jessica Miller; son, John Miller; three grandchildren, Tyteeanna Miller, Quinn Woods Jr. and London Davis; sisters, Sharon Cathy, Patricia McIntyer and Charlene McIntyer; brothers, Revell McIntyer, Willie Miller, Eddie Wilson-Miller, John Miller and Romeo “Peter” Miller; and a host of nieces and nephews.


SUE RICHARDSON
Bonnie Sue Richardson, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 28 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services were Thursday at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Booth Poole officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Richardson was born April 29, 1928 in Choctaw County to Willie E. and Kitturah Bell Black Bruce. She was a homemaker and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Walter Richardson Sr. of Bentonia; two daughters, Belinda Patterson Manor (Johnny) and Margaret Anne Culpepper (Ron), both of Yazoo City; a son, Walter Richardson Jr. (Sharon); a brother, Billy T. Bruce (Robbie) of Yazoo City; seven grandchildren, Toni Stewart (John) of Madison, Terri Goodman (Gray), Teresa Baker (Joe), Jason Patterson (Jamie), all of Yazoo City, Eric Patterson (Tresa) of Ridgeland, Matthew Culpepper of Panama City, Fla. and Katie Culpepper of Birmingham, Ala.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Manley Washington, Johnny Washington, Eddie Washington, Tommy Milner, Bo Gregg and Charlie Milner.
