The Mayor and Board of Aldermen’s vote to end payments to interlocal agreements with the county could affect a lot more than E-911 services and the rubbish pit.
Last week, with Mayor McArthur Straughter and Ward 4 Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. strongly opposing, the board voted 3-2 to end payments on interlocal agreements with the county until county officials come to the table to discuss the city’s request that the county pay a $9,500 monthly fee for the rubbish pit, among other matters.
