Calhoun eyesore stands no more

Mayor McArthur Straughter looks on as city workers demolish an abandoned house on the corner of Calhoun Avenue and Fifth Street. The house has long been considered an eyesore and a health hazard to the neighborhood. The city has made progress in the battle to clean up neglected properties since purchasing a new excavator. The city also recently demolished nuisance properties on  South Washington and Gordon Avenue.
