Yazoo County voters in 11 precincts are asked to return to their polling sites April 3 to cast their vote again for either Danny Neely or Bennie K. Warrington in the race for justice court judge in the Southern District.
Yazoo County Circuit Court Judge Jannie Lewis set the date for the special election Tuesday at the conclusion of a 25-minute hearing.
Only voters in the justice court's Southern District will vote. The precincts are 3-1 West, 3-2 East, 3-4 South, East Bentonia, Jonestown, Mechanicsburg, Robinette, Satartia, Valley, Ward 5 and West Bentonia.
Judge Lewis ordered the special election Jan. 11 after Neely and Warrington reached a settlement on the issues involved in the case. Neely was certified the winner in the race for justice court judge in the Southern District after leading by one vote. Neely received 1,590 votes to Warrington's 1,589. Ann McBride trailed with 581 votes.
