Petition protests pit bulls

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

A petition was submitted to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen this week for the removal of pit bulls at a Yazoo City home.
Sarah Sheffield submitted the petition to city leaders after there have been several complaints and incidents surrounding the dogs in the Yazoo Street area.
Sheffield said her neighbors live in fear of the animals. And when they complain, they are met with violent reactions. She claims one concerned neighbor was even threatened with her life.
Sheffield said that same citizen’s home was surrounded by several pit bull owners with their dogs on chains.
“They protested on her street with these dogs,” Sheffield said. “Nothing was done about these dogs or the protest.”
