Yazoo Library Association to host open house at Ricks Memorial Library

Special to The Herald

The Yazoo Library Association will hold an open house on Jan. 24 at Ricks Memorial Library from 9:30 until 11 a.m.
The library will be featuring demonstrations conducted by John Ellzey on the new ST ViewScan. The ViewScan is an advanced digital film viewer and scanner donated to the library by the great grandchildren of Colonel Emile Schaefer and his wife Caroline Schaefer.
Goodwin Schaefer Deacon, Ginzy Schaefer, and Philip Cuthbert Schaefer established the Ricks Memorial Library Technology Improvement Endowment in 2009. This endowment not only allowed the library to purchase the ViewScanner but also eight computer carrels that provide privacy for our computer users.
Sherry Anderson, the new Interim Director of Ricks, will also be introduced to the community. Come join the Board of Directors and the library staff on Tuesday morning for a demonstration of our scanner and delicious refreshments.
