Yazoo City’s boys basketball team scored 18 points in the final quarter of play Tuesday night against Lanier, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome an eight-point difference as the Indians lost 37-33. The Indians put themselves in the position for a fourth quarter comeback by scoring just three points in the third quarter, while Lanier added nine to its 14 points from the first half.
The first half saw both defenses shut down the other’s offense, with Lanier scoring seven points in each of the first two quarters while Yazoo City scored five in the first and seven in the second. The Indians trailed by just two points at halftime before posting just three points in the third quarter to fall behind 23-15.
