Not many people gave the Lady Raiders of Benton a chance at victory when they hosted Tri County, the No. 2 team in the state at 16-3 overall. However, the Lady Rebels led by just six points at halftime as Benton was able to slow down Tri County’s potent offense and took advantage of several trips to charity stripe in the second quarter.
Tri County came out in the third quarter on fire to score 19 points while holding the Lady Raiders to just eight points.
Trailing by 17 points, Benton needed a spectacular fourth quarter to pull of the comeback. However, the Lady Rebels would have none of that, giving up just three points in the final quarter of action, making the final score 46-23.
Junior Nora Grace Davis led the Lady Raiders in scoring with eight points and Sarah Burdine finished second with six points against Tri County.
