ROSALEE MEREDITH
Rosalee F. Meredith, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 in Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services were Jan. 14 at Presbyterian Village North.
Mrs. Meredith was born Aug. 14, 1924 in Vaughan to Francis Cooper Hayden and Royal Clara Hayden. She graduated with a B.A. in English from Mississippi College before earning her M.A. in English from Baylor University. In 1950 she married Jack Meredith at First Baptist Church in Dallas. For the next 27 years she accompanied her U.S. Army officer husband to his numerous postings around the U.S. and around the world, including Germany, the U.K. and the American Embassy in Moscow. They later settled in Atlanta, where they served in various ministries at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church for the next 29 years. They moved to Dallas in 2000 to be closer to family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Col. John “Jack” D. Meredith; sister, Margaret Tanco of Houston, Texas; daughter, Michelle Meredith of Dallas, Texas; son Mike Meredith (Heidi) of Dallas, Texas; grandson, First Lt. Hayden Meredith of Tacoma, Wash.; and granddaughter, Luci Meredith of Dallas, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

MATTIE MURRAY
Mattie R. Murray, 65, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Issaquena M.B. Church in Yazoo City with Rev. Gregory Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Travelers Cemetery in Carter under the direction of Knight & Lindsey Funeral Home.
Ms. Murray was born Dec. 23, 1946 in Raymond to the late Dick and Kettie Gray Murray. She was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.
Survivors include five nieces, Emma Pearson, Hattie O’Neal, Jacqueline Taylor, Victoria Granberry Diew  and Bessie Mae Green; nephews, Will Alexander, Murray Green, Jeffred Green and Monroe Parker; sister-in-law, Mary Green; and a host of other relatives and friends.

JUANITA STRICKLIN
Juanita Y. Stricklin, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were Thursday at Glenwood Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stricklin was born Dec. 20, 1922 in Yazoo City to Alanzo “Lonnie” A. and Mary P. Young.
She worked at the ASCS office, Selective Service, and was a secretary at Yazoo City Junior High School for many years. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam C. Stricklin; her sister, Zoe Woodruff; and a grandson, Guy Wayne Stricklin Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, Lonnie S. Stricklin (Sharon) of Morris, Ala. and Guy Wayne Stricklin Sr. of Hoover, Ala.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Ray Stricklin, Troy Stricklin, Roy Stricklin, Brian Stricklin, David Stricklin and Matt Willoughby.

JERRY WATERS
Jerry Waters, 79, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m, at Triune M.B. Church with Rev. Curtis Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Yazoo Memorial Gardens under the direction of Knight & Lindsey Funeral Home.
Mr. Waters was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Holmes County to Brad and Leola Bullock Waters. He was a retired auto engineer and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Taylor Waters of Yazoo City; five children, Donna Taylor and Sonja Taylor of Chicago, Coretha Waters Smith (Eddie) and Jerry Waters Jr. of Yazoo City and Trey Waters of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
