Yazoo lawmakers get leadership roles

GunnGunnClarkClarkBy JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

Five legislators representing Yazoo County were placed in leadership roles this week.
Rep. Philip Gunn, who also represents Yazoo County, was selected as the new House speaker last week, and other announcements soon followed with a slate of new leaders.
Rep. Bryant Clark will serve as the deputy leader of the 58-person Mississippi House Democratic Caucus.
Among his many duties, Clark will serve as spokesperson for the House Democrats. Working with Caucus Leader Rep. Bobby Moak, he will also  devise strategies that advance and promote the Democrat Caucus’ agenda.
“House Democrats are committed to improving education and putting Mississippians to work,” Clark said. “This means not only working to continue to attract world-class employees like Nissan and Toyota, but also working to ensure that our small businesses have the tools they need to be successful.”
