Gateway Solutions Inc. recently coordinated a Christmas program at the Oasis Health and Rehabilitation Center. Gateway Solutions Inc. (GSI) coordinated a Christmas Program at the Oasis Health and Rehabilitation Center on December 23, 2011.
The program featured students from the Yazoo City and Yazoo County High Schools.
Special Christmas instrumental selections were provided by the Yazoo City High School Band ensemble under the direction of Mr. Aaron Thompson. The Water Grove A.M.E. Church of Benton provided moving Gospel selections. Students from Yazoo County and Yazoo City High schools sang inspirational solos.
The program was started with a rousing prayer provided by Rev. Curtis L. Strong.
This is the second Christmas program sponsored by GSI at Oasis.
Following the Oasis Christmas Program, participants went to the Manor House to provide inspirational music and singing while individuals were served lunch.
Following the Manor House program, some participants surprised 99 year-old Mrs. Leola Dillard with a personal Christmas program at her home in honor of her spirit of giving back to the community.
GSI strives to give youth a platform to share their talents while giving back to their community.
GSI President, David Peyton, encourages any youth who wishes to provide community service and receive documented credit for scholarships, college admissions, etc., to contact him at 528-0054 or Gloria Elayne Owens, Lifesaver Program Coordinator, at 528-6050.

Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
