RAYFORD DAVIS
Rayford Davis, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services were Friday at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Richardson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis was born Jan. 12, 1925 in Yazoo County to James N. and Eliza Saxton Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Yazoo Valley Electric.
Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Davis of Yazoo City; three sons, Glyn Davis, Ronnie Davis and Ricky Davis, all of Benton; three daughters, Debbie Saxton of Slidell, La., Wanda McCallister of Brandon and Darlene Cooksey of Magee; three brothers, Gilley Davis of Benton, Lester Davis of Yazoo City and George Davis of Benton; two sisters, Geneva Hood and Marie Gordon of Benton; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Brian Davis, Lance Davis, Jason Davis, Jacob Davis, Greg Everett and Brad Saxton.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Davis and Donald Counts.
