Couple charged in child abuse case

By JASON PATTERSON
Editor & Publisher

Investigators haven’t been able to prove that child abuse led to the death of a one-year-old boy, but his death led them to the discovery of the child abuse.
Courtney Ann Jones, and her boyfriend, Billy Joe Williams Jr., are each charged with two counts felony child abuse after the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department and  the Department of Human Services began investigating the death of Hunter Jones.
Hunter Jones was Courtney Ann Jones’ son.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said DHS also removed a female child from the home who showed signs of abuse including extensive bruising and a broken ankle.
An autopsy was unable to determine the cause of death.
