Special to The Herald
Paul Buxton and Laura Kalil both tied for the Biggest Loser title with a 22 pound weight loss.
Buxton is now off both blood pressure and cholesterol medications.
Kalil said she has more energy than ever before.
Both winners are still coming to aerobics and working out three times per week.
Kalil has joined the Yazoo City Running Club, and Buxton is at the gym four times a week.
Initially there were 22 people who signed up for the program, with 15 completing it. They exercised two nights per week for 1.5 hours with high intensity cardio and strength training. Each participant was given a fat gram recommendation to monitor and were left with their discretion on putting together the diet plan that worked for them.
Overall the group who finished lost a total of 201.4 pounds.
For coordinator and trainer Diane Sampson, this makes over 1,000 pounds that she has successfully helped Yazooans lose.
“They did an excellent job and even though I pushed them to the max every workout, they hung in and completed the program,” Sampson said. “Everyone was successful with an average weight loss average of 15 pounds per person.”
Biggest Loser 3 starts Jan. 9, 2012 and anyone interested in signing up can contact Sampson at to 601-941-0590 or The Rock for more information.
