With the state and national economy still in a slump, many local store owners were happy to see a successful shopping season over the holidays.
Yazoo merchants were thankful to see support from patrons during their Christmas shopping.
Charlie Ward from Mississippi Ag said business was great and has remained steady for the past three or four years with their top sellers being toys and boots.
Jimmy Chisolm, owner of the Black and White Department Store, said sales continued up to the last minute with Christmas shopping.
“Business has been looking good, and we had a better week before Christmas since we got an extra day this year,” Chisolm said.
Like Mississippi Ag, boots were also a top seller for Black and White along with insulated coveralls.
Chisolm also said he is hoping to see an increase in sales at Black and White with the economy beginning to pick up and more traffic being generated downtown due to the addition of some new businesses. -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
