CANTON - A slow start at the beginning of any sport’s season isn’t unusual. In fact, it’s more common because teams are still working out the kinks. However, the best teams shake off the early season losses for success later in the season.
The Lady Mavericks of Manchester Academy are beginning to show they might be a force to contend with in the spring with their second-straight victory, and third out of their last four games, against Canton Academy Tuesday night 50-32.
“It can get better,” Lady Mavs head coach Tamara Faulkner said. “There are lots of different levels we can reach, but yes, we can definitely get better.”
Senior Maggie Hughes had a big night on offense, leading the Lady Mavs in points with 15. Kaitlin Woods was second with seven points and both Mary Moses Hitt and Kristen Morris had six points.
