Deputy charged with aggravated assault

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

A Yazoo County deputy was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly assaulted a man while off-duty Sunday afternoon.
Deputy James Shiers Jr. was charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence and simple assault.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is handling all aspects of the case.
Sheriff Thomas Vaughan said Shiers has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is being conducted. Vaughan told The Herald his department turned the case over to MBI to allow for an independent investigation.  -------for the rest of the story see The Yazoo Herald printed edition or subscribe to the Digital Edition.----------
