Yazoo NSDAR members honor veterans

Special to The Herald

The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored veterans in a ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Yazoo County Courthouse on Nov. 17.
The JROTC Color Guard from Yazoo City High School presented the colors, and Chapter Chaplain
Sarastelle Sigrest conducted the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a wreath was placed at the memorial by JoAnne Collins, Chapter Regent.
The November chapter meeting was held in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church. Collins presided.
Following the Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, the business meeting was conducted which included officer and committee reports.
Christmas cards were written by Yazoo Chapter members for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and were collected for mailing.
Yazoo Chapter NSDAR Vice Regent Priscilla Harper then presented an interesting and informative program on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Following the program, the meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served by hostesses Pro Metts, Snooky Hogue and Marsha Williams.
The December meeting will be the Christmas luncheon held at No Mistake Plantation on Dec. 15 at 11:30 a.m.
