Talk about a tough first day on the job.
Haley Douglas was just a few hours into her new job as a receptionist at Just My Style when the building was hammered by the April 24 tornado.
She was one of 18 people, including nine children, seeking shelter inside the small salon as the windows exploded and the roof was ripped from the building.
The force of the tornado lifted young Bree Riley into the air and sat her back down without harm as she sat in the floor with owner Angie Cotten Rhoads’ dog in her lap. Nine of the 11 vehicles in the parking lot were totaled. Rhoads lost her car, and her home suffered heavy damage.
