Sherry Anderson is starting to feel right at home at Ricks Memorial Library.
Serving as the new director, she is eager to remind Yazooans and visitors what a gem the community has with the local library.
“A library is a happy, peaceful place,” she said. “You can move at a slower pace here. In society, we are always dashing here and there. Come to the library, take a breath and take a time out.”
Anderson’s enthusiasm is contagious, and it doesn’t take long to see the love of books coming out in her personality.
The Louisville native always had a knack for books growing up. And that love and appreciation kicked into overdrive when she and her husband Steve began to home school their own children.
“We utilized the library in our area a great deal,” she said. “We removed the televisions from our home and read at night.”
The Andersons didn’t miss a beat with no televisions. It offered a perfect environment for learning, loving and living.
Their outlet was books, and they were taken to other worlds nightly.
