MARY FEARS
Mary Lois Fears, 83, of Bentonia died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Compere Nursing Home in Jackson.
Funeral services are today at Satartia United Methodist Church with Rev. Skipper Maxwell and Rev. Ray Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Fears was born May 30, 1928 in Ackerman to Willie Thomas Hunt and Jessie Reagin Hunt. She was a retired secretary for Yazoo County Schools and a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Fears of Bentonia and Ken Fears of Bentonia; a daughter, Mary Fears of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Annie Mae Hilderbrand of Bentonia; former husband, Ralph Fears of Bentonia; and four grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Tom Caruthers, Tommy Quattlebaum, Jeff Tyer, Bently O-Berry, Kevin Quattlebaum and Durwood Pettis.
WILBUR HARRIS
Wilbur R. Harris, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Friday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Bill Poole officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was born Dec. 7, 1917 in Yazoo City to Thomas H. and Emmie Wilson Harris. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two nephews, James Winningham Jr. and Barron Winningham, both of Shreveport, La.
MARGARET PLUNKETT
Margaret A. Plunkett, 92, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Fletcher’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Plunkett was born Jan. 4, 1918 in Yazoo County to Nathan and Georgia Germany Ashley. She was a homemaker and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Plunkett; a son, Joe Manor; and a daughter, Ann Carter.
Survivors include two daughters, Dot Manor of Bentonia and Patricia C. Taylor of Yazoo City; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Paul Carter Jr., Powell Saxton, Justin Carter, Shannon Clark, Scott Clark and Tommy Book.
ELLA ROBERTSON
Ella Dora Williams Robertson, 53, died Oct. 30, 2011.
Funeral services were Sunday at St. Matthew Church of God in Christ with Rev. Robert E. Toombs officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson was born July 5, 1958 to Rosemund Williams Lewis and Mr. Leedell Gordons. She was married to Willie Earl Robertson and had a gift for taking care of children.
Survivors include her mother; her children, Yearlander Williams, Roselind Robertson, Minnie Bee Robertson and Pandora Robertson; siblings, Doris Jean Banks, Johnnie Davis, Janis Chambers (Larry), Barbara Ann Brown, Tony Jamae Davis, Sharon Woodard (J.D.) and Angela Davis; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Alving Barnes, Cleotha Brown, Greg Noel, Jarvis Prothro, Lewis Barnes, Gabriel Johnson, William Patterson and Wardell Prothro.
Honorary pallbearers were Ellis Chambers, Roy Farris Jr., John Henry Patterson, J.D. Woodard, Jimmy Lee Crook, Torome Lewis and Antwan Robinson.
