For the second year in a row the Mavericks of Manchester Academy are in the playoffs. And also for the second time in as many years, they will face North Delta in the first round of the MAIS playoffs this Friday night after securing second place in district 2-AA with a 20-12 victory over Canton Academy.
“They have a good ball club, but we do too,” Manchester head coach Benny McLendon said.
In last year’s playoffs, North Delta shut out a Matt Peaster-led Mavericks 34-0. However, this year Manchester (8-3, 2-1) is led by a plethora of players and was on display at Buster Crawford Stadium last Friday.
