A year after winning just one game and missing the playoffs, Yazoo County is officially headed to the playoffs as the third seed from district 4A-3 after defeating Indianola Gentry 38-18 last Friday night.
“Anytime you get a win headed into the playoffs is big,” Panthers first year head coach Bernard Euell said. “It creates confidence for the team.”
In the home finale Friday night, Michael Collum led the team in scoring with three touchdowns, two of which were passes to Devontea White. White and Collum connected on 47 and 10-yard passes. Collum also had a five yard rushing touchdown.
Junior Gerald Lampkin had a pair of rushing touchdowns against Indianola Gentry on runs of five and two yards.
“We’ve played pretty well these last few weeks, with the exception of Cleveland,” Euell said. “We’ve protected the ball better and that is the key to success for us.”
