Lucy Frank Sharbrough Downing Thomas, 84,  died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 in Tulsa, Okla.
Mrs. Thomas was born to William Chambliss Sharbrough and Velma Saunders Sharbrough in Yazoo City on Sept. 28, 1927. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Science from Louisiana State University, she worked as a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Jackson.  
She married Adolph Meyer, “Tex” Downing May 12th, 1957, and had three children, David, Barbara, and Rebecca. The family eventually moved to Oklahoma City in 1971 where they raised their children. Lucy devoted her life to the church where she served as director of the Altar Guild. She survived two husbands, and in 2008, moved to Tulsa to be closer to David and Barbara.  
Survivors include her brother William Chambliss (“Red”) Sharbrough, Jr, of Holly Bluff;  son David Downing and his wife Kim, of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter Barbara Harrison and her husband Tom, of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter Becky Bartsch and her husband, Michael, of Libertyville, Ill.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves behind many friends and extended family members.

ANN WARD
Ann Richards Ward, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Monday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Abel officiating. Burial followed at Center Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward was born Jan. 4, 1929 in Yazoo City to Walter and Jenny Saxton Guthrie. She was a retired nurse and a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney C. Richards; and her second husband, Lamar Ward.
Survivors include a son, Owen Richards of Yazoo City; two daughters, Lane Ewing and Debra Batton, both of Yazoo City; three brothers, Herb Guthrie of Clinton,  Bud Guthrie of Benton and Buck Guthrie of Madison; three sisters, Clarice Davis of Benton, Dorothy Williamson of Benton and Carolyn Hardy of Pearl; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Chuck Williams, Andrew Ewing, Paul Mancini, Anthony Hill, Stephan Ulurich, Matthew Addison and David Oakley.
