Two months ago, Kevin Willaman rode into Yazoo City on his bicycle from Florida on his way to California. Now, as the calendar prepares to turn to November, he has made it to California.
Willaman, who started his journey in Boca Raton, Fla., arrived in California this past week after traveling nearly 3,000 miles over the course of three months.
After leaving Yazoo City, Willaman made his way to Arkansas and its state parks. From there he traveled through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. Some of the sights he has seen were the various state parks in Arkansas, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas.
On the final leg of his trip, Willaman even made a visit to Seligman, Ariz. Where the producers of Pixar’s Cars got the idea for the movie.
While on his trip, Willaman battled both physical and mental exhaustion from the changing landscapes, elevation and loneliness of being on the road by himself. However, he made hundreds of memories that he will cherish for the rest of his life.
Now that his journey is complete, Willaman will head back to his hometown in Florida. Instead of riding his bicycle though, he’ll be flying back.
It’s much easier on the legs.
