Local teams looking towards the playoffs

Two weeks from now, football teams across the Magnolia state will either be celebrating their playoff victory from the night before or wallowing in their sorrows as their season come to a close.
That’s right, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here.
Both the MAIS and MHSAA begin playoffs the first week of November, but coaches (and players, too) have been keeping an eye on the postseason landscape in the weeks leading up to it.
“You don’t think about the playoffs much until you get down to the end of conference play,” Benton head coach Wayman Grantham said. “As the season goes along, you start to think about where everything is going to fall.”
If the playoffs were to have begun last night, all four teams located in Yazoo County would have played first round playoff games. However, a pair of schools have already secured their spot in the postseason battle.
With a 29-18 victory last Friday against Humphreys County, Yazoo County secured at least fourth place in their district and a spot in the playoffs.
