CHARLES ABLES
Charles Edward Ables, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Satartia First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Duggan officiating. Services were under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Ables was born Feb. 7, 1937 in Yazoo County to Edward E. and Lucille Hawk Ables. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Satartia.
He was preceded in death a brother, James Nobert Ables and a daughter, Stacey Ables.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Edward Ables of Yazoo City, Christopher Charles Ables of Vidalia and Daniel Frank Ables of Yazoo City; three brothers, Billy Ables (Patsy) of Holly Bluff; and Rayford Ables (Geraldine) of Batesville; a sister, Mary Leila Turnage (Jay) of Yazoo City; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

RYLEE FARROW
Rylee Elizabeth Farrow, 14 months, died Saturday Oct. 15, 2011.
Funeral services were Monday at Wyatte Baptist Church. Burial followed in Cathey Cemetery under the direction of Pate-Jones Funeral Home of Senatobia.
Survivors include her parents Josh and Maggie Harber Farrow of Oxford; grandparents, Michael and Margaret Harber of Benton; and Bobby and Tammy Farrow of Wyatte; great-grandparents, Troye England of Wyatte and Leslie and Vivian England of Somerville, Tenn.; and uncles, Jason (Delaine) Harber of Flora and Justin Farrow of Wyatte.

MILDRED McGINNIS

Funeral services for Mildred J. McGinnis, 62, are today at 11 a.m. at the Love Feast M.B. Church in Louise with Rev. Billy Reed officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Belzoni.
Survivors include her mother, Mildred Bullock of Yazoo City; daughter, Lisa R. McGinnis of Chicago; brother, Davis Bullock Jr. of Chicago; and sisters, Dianne Lockhart of Phenix City, Ala.; Kim R. London of Richard Park, Ill. and Shirley D. Williams of Yazoo City.

CLAUDE WALLS Sr.
Claude George Walls Sr., 72 died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 after  a long struggle with many health conditions.
A memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. at Abundant Love Church in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Walls was born in New Orleans, La., on January 19, 1939 to Pearl Baxter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Walls.
Survivors include his son Claude Walls Jr., daughter in law Marlene Walls and grandchildren Jamal Kelly, Kandis, Kristelle, and Jawan Walls.

 
Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.  
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
