Judge orders recount in election challenge

By JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

A Circuit Court judge issued an order this week to revisit the ballots involving the primary election for superintendent of county education.
A hearing was held last week involving Delorris Smith’s petition to contest the primary election for superintendent with the Yazoo County School District.
Circuit Court Judge Isadore Patrick issued an order Monday morning concerning the challenge. The order said another tally of votes should be conducted.
Smith contested the election on Aug. 22, claiming some voters were denied the right to vote and that there were irregularities at two voting precincts.
